UnidosUS Comments Addressing Concerns on Law Enforcement Technologies

Regulatory Comment

Facial recognition concept

UnidosUS submitted comments in response to a request for public input on law enforcement’s use of facial recognition technology (FRT), biometric surveillance, predictive algorithms, and data storage.

We emphasize the need for updated regulations to address the potential infringement of constitutional principles such as due process, equal protection, and privacy in the context of data-driven surveillance systems. Our organization highlights concerns about the disproportionate impact on Latinos and marginalized communities, urging transparency, accountability, and corrective actions by the Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security to protect democratic rights and prevent abusive surveillance practices.
