Toward a More Perfect Union: Understanding Systemic Racism and Resulting Inequity in Latino Communities
We are living in a moment when more Americans are realizing what people of color experience every day: that structural racism creates barriers in all aspects of life, where we live, our health, our access to good jobs, and how authorities treat us. But racism itself is so ingrained in our institutions and systems that it isn’t always so easy to see. And the disparities created by systemic racism continue to reinforce the separate and unequal status of Latinos in the United States
The fight for racial equity is embedded in everything UnidosUS does. As we dismantle racism from all sides, we’re committed to showing all Americans what structural racism is and what we can all do to end it.

OUR NEW POSITION PAPER
This position paper lays out what systemic racism really is and how it affects Latinos in terms of how we are treated by law enforcement and the immigration system, our access to health care, the quality of our education, and our ability to build wealth.
