UnidosUS Comments to USCIS on Social Media Monitoring

Regulatory Comment

UnidosUS, together with Asian Americans Advancing Justice – AAJC, submitted this letter to speak out against a government proposal to collect immigrants’ social media information.

The letter warns that this kind of monitoring could violate people’s privacy and free speech rights and lead to unfair government surveillance. It explains how the proposal could harm immigrant communities, discourage talented individuals from coming to the U.S. and set a dangerous precedent for tracking people’s online activity without proper limits.
