Puerto Rico Child Tax Credit Survey, April 2022

Research Report

Summary of the findings of a survey of Puerto Rico families eligible for the expanded child tax credit (CTC).

From this survey we concluded that close to seven out of every ten respondents knew about the CTC. The main ways families learned about the credit was through friends and relatives, and federal tax preparers. In terms of mass media, television and social media have played an important role in the dissemination of the information. Although a high proportion of the respondents knew about the credit, their level of knowledge about is average or small, which may represent a barrier for accessing this benefit.
