Latino Jobs Report: Latino Unemployment Ticks Down to 6.3%

Fact Sheet

The September 2021 jobs report showed that the economy added 194,000 jobs—well below the 500,000 number economists forecasted.

Notable job gains occurred in the hospitality and leisure industry, a trend that has been consistent for much of this year.

Latino unemployment is down to 6.3%, remaining higher than the white and Asian unemployment rates. The September jobs number suggests that the economy is still vulnerable to the COVID-19 pandemic and that the end of enhanced unemployment benefits and re-opening of schools has done little to assuage this.
