Fact Sheet

In June 2015, employers added 223,000 jobs , 57,000 less than the previous month, and the unemployment rate declined slightly from 5.5% to 5.3%. Job growth occurred in professional and business services, health care, retail, and food services. Health care occupations have added over 400,000 jobs in the past year and are projected to add the most new jobs of any sector between 2012 and 2022–an estimated five million. Currently, Latinos make up only 12.1% of health care workers, compared to 16.1% of all workers, signaling a need for greater Latino representation in health care occupations.
