The Congressional Tax Package and Latinos What You Need to Know
This fact sheet provides an overview of the $680 billion congressional tax deal passed in December 2015 and its impact on Latinos. The deal makes a number of credits permanent, including the refundable Child Tax Credit (CTC) and Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), while extending others for five years. Included in the legislation are a number of restrictions placed on immigrants that will keep some from receiving benefits and increase the difficulty for others to access the tax credits for which they are eligible.
