Unmet Needs, Unfinished Degrees: Basic Needs Insecurity Among Latinos in Higher Education

Issue Brief

Hispanic students see their education as a shared investment in economic mobility for themselves and their families. Despite this ambition and growing enrollment, Latinos are not completing degrees at the same rate as their white peers. UnidosUS has released this report to better understand how compounding pressures such as food insecurity, housing instability, mental health, family obligation, and a hostile political environment operate in students’ daily lives to prevent them from graduating and to identify targeted solutions.
