Comment Letter in Response to Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Advanced Notice of Proposed Rulemaking Defining Larger Participants in the Automobile Financing, Consumer Reporting, Consumer Debt Collection, and International Money Transfer markets

Regulatory Comment

UnidosUS is urging the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) not to roll back oversight of key financial industries like auto loans, credit reporting, debt collection, and international money transfers. The Bureau’s proposal would limit supervision to just a handful of the largest companies, leaving many others unchecked — even though they play a huge role in the financial lives of Latino and working-class families. Strong oversight is essential to stop abusive practices, ensure fair competition, and protect communities that already face the greatest financial vulnerabilities.
