Immigrant Farmworkers are Essential to Feeding America
This statement for the record was submitted as a part of the July 21, 2021 hearing by the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, titled “Immigrant Farmworkers are Essential to Feeding America.”
The statement asserts that a pathway to citizenship for immigrant farmworkers is an integral part of a comprehensive pandemic recovery plan. As documented in this statement, these individuals, a significant number of whom are Latino, have been instrumental to the nation’s critical infrastructure and resiliency, while helping in no small part to power our recovery by keeping our population fed. UnidosUS urges action to support these communities by the passage of the Farm Workforce Modernization Act of 2021.
