On May 14, 2021, this letter was submitted to Texas Health and Human Services Executive Commissioner Cecile Erwin Young on the state’s Pandemic-EBT program requesting the agency address three important measures that would ensure Hispanic Texans have increased and reinforced access to affordable, nutritious food:

  1. Remove barriers to remote application assistance.
  2. Implement a culturally responsive and linguistically appropriate public awareness campaign on P-EBT.
  3. Remove P-EBT application prompt for Social Security Numbers.
