UnidosUS’s Comment Submitted on Regulations.gov (ID DOS-2019-0035-0001)
UnidosUS submitted a substantive comment opposing the Department of State’s (DOS) companion rule to the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) public charge rule.
Like the DHS rule, the DOS rule would create a de facto wealth test for immigrants. Unlike the DHS rule, this sister regulation would largely impact individuals who apply for green cards from outside the United States.
