Save Tax Credits for Working Families
While the economy is improving, too many working families are not earning enough to cover their basic expenses. Among the most effective federal policies to fight poverty among working families are the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the Child Tax Credit (CTC). This fall, Congress has a chance to save key improvements to the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and the refundable Child Tax Credit (CTC). If Congress fails to act, Latino families will pay the price: if key EITC and CTC enhancements expire, five million Latino working families stand to lose an average of more than $1,000 each.
