UnidosUS Denounces Baseless, Politically Motivated Effort to Impeach Secretary Mayorkas

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Janet Murguía, President and CEO of UnidosUS, the nation’s largest Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization, today released the following statement in response to the baseless impeachment articles the House GOP has brought against U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas:

“The House Republicans’ pursuit of articles of impeachment against Secretary Mayorkas remains unfounded and politically motivated. Despite the lack of evidence of impeachable offenses, they are moving forward with their predetermined partisan agenda. This undermines the credibility of the impeachment process, as constitutional grounds for such actions against Mayorkas are nonexistent. It is crucial for Congress to refocus on genuine bipartisan solutions for our immigration system and border challenges, rather than engaging in political theatrics that do not serve the interests of the American people.”
