WASHINGTON, D.C.—From July 8th through the 10th, NCLR (National Council of La Raza) will host its 2017 National Latino Family Expo® at the Phoenix Convention Center. The Expo is free and open to the public and is part of NCLR’s Annual Conference, taking place this year in Phoenix, Arizona, the site of the organization’s founding 49 years ago.
The Expo, the largest Latino informational and consumer expo in the country, is a dynamic three-day event that delivers free family fun, prize giveaways, health screenings, employment opportunities and more.

At this year’s event, participants can interact with potential local employers looking to recruit local talent. More than 30 employers will be present at the Career and Education/Tus Oportunidades pavilion. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in professional development workshops focused on crafting the perfect cover letter and dressing for success.

The Expo will also host free dental, vision, high blood pressure, blood glucose and other health screenings at the Health and Fitness/Tu Salud pavilion. Visitors can also receive information on low-cost immunizations and have consultations with pharmacists. Additionally, children will be able to receive free prescription glasses after the event. At the Children/Festival de Los Niños pavilion, your child will be able to attend storytime with their favorite PBS characters. There will also be a toddler area for young children to play. Children will also be able to meet some of their favorite characters at the ribbon-cutting ceremony that opens the Expo, such as Daniel Tiger or Curious George from PBS Kids, Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer, the GEICO gecko, the Phoenix Suns’s Gorilla and more.

Additionally, the Community/El Barrio pavilion will give attendees the chance to speak with local businesses and access resources that they need in their everyday lives. Expo attendees will also have the chance to explore interactive science experiments, innovative car displays and art celebrating the heritage of the Latino community at the STEAM/El Futuro pavilion.

NCLR’s Expo is geared toward providing the local Latino community in the Conference’s host city with the tools they need to succeed. You and your family won’t want to miss this fun and informative weekend full of amazing games, prizes, and more!

UPS, Health Net of Arizona and Cenpatico Integrated Care are co–title sponsors of this year’s Expo.
