2017 NCLR Annual Conference in Phoenix: Largest Latino Gathering Returns to City of Organization’s Founding
Phoenix will play host to weekend full of fun family activities, entertainment and captivating speakers
PHOENIX—Janet Murguía, NCLR (National Council of La Raza) President and CEO, will join Phoenix Mayor Greg Stanton at a morning press event on Thursday, June 1 to announce major highlights of the upcoming 2017 NCLR Annual Conference and National Latino Family Expo®. The morning press event will preview the exciting lineup of speakers and engaging events on the docket for the nation’s largest annual gathering of Latino leaders, which will take place July 8–11 at the Phoenix Convention Center.
This year’s Conference, title sponsored by Toyota, is particularly significant as it marks NCLR’s return to Phoenix, the city of its founding, as the organization nears its 50th anniversary. The theme for this year’s event, Nuestro Movimiento: Our American Journey, pays homage to this significant milestone, reflecting on the strides NCLR has made since its founding, its evolution as an organization, its vision of what lies ahead and the opportunities for continued growth.
Every year, the NCLR Annual Conference attracts a broad array of leaders, advocates, elected officials, business executives and changemakers for a weekend of informative and engaging sessions tackling some of the most pressing issues impacting the Latino community. Concurrent with the Annual Conference is the National Latino Family Expo, with UPS, Health Net of Arizona and Cenpatico Integrated Care as co–title sponsors. The Expo is the largest event in the country focused on resources and activities for the Latino family. In addition to more than 100 exhibitors showcasing their products and services, the Expo also offers live entertainment, free health screenings, and cooking and exercise demonstrations that guarantee attendees an exciting experience in a fun, family-friendly environment.
