
Deborah Fleischaker
Deborah Fleischaker is Senior Advisor for Immigration Policy and Strategy at UnidosUS. Previously, she spent almost 14 years at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as both a career civil servant and political appointee. While at DHS, she served in a variety of political appointee positions including the Acting Chief of Staff at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the ICE Assistant Director for Regulatory Affairs and Policy, the DHS Executive Secretary and the Acting DHS Chief Privacy Officer and Chief FOIA Officer. In addition, Deborah worked as a career civil servant for over ten years in the DHS Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties (CRCL). While at CRCL, Ms. Fleischaker spent a year on detail as counsel to Senator Patrick J. Leahy where she worked on a range of Senate Judiciary Committee issues including immigration, national security and privacy.
Ms. Fleischaker earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland and her bachelor’s from Vanderbilt University. She is a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia bars.
