Latino Working Class: America’s Economic Engine

Topic Brief

Latinos remain essential to the success of the U.S. economy and the future of America’s working class — teachers, firefighters, retail and hospitality workers, and health care workers. Yet though they provide essential contributions that power our economy, Latino working-class families continue to face stagnant wages and a rising cost of living as well as additional barriers that misrepresent and overlook their key concerns. UnidosUS and PRB collaborated to share this research to deepen our understanding of the Latino working class through rigorous, data-driven insights that can highlight their contributions and dispel misconceptions as well as support community-based organizations most familiar with the struggles and opportunities for Latino working-class families
