UnidosUS comments on USDA department reorganization plan
UnidosUS submitted a letter opposing the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) proposed reorganization plan, which would relocate thousands of employees and close regional offices.
The comment warns that this restructuring would weaken critical food and nutrition programs like SNAP and WIC, disrupt emergency response and create dangerous gaps in oversight. It highlights the risks of staff losses, program delays and reduced access for millions of Americans, including the Latino families who make up a significant share of participants.
UnidosUS urges USDA to halt this plan and instead prioritize transparency, stakeholder engagement and the protection of families who depend on food and nutrition assistance.
