The COVID-19 Vaccines and the Latino Community: Principles for an Equitable Distribution

UnidosUS polling has shown that Latino voters rank the cost of food and basic living expenses as one of the single most important concerns elected officials must address.

Since its inception in 2021, Esperanza Hope for All (EHFA), an institution-wide initiative launched by UnidosUS, has been at the forefront of mitigating the health, economic and educational impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic on Latino communities.

More than 9 million uninsured Latinos have secured health insurance today, thanks to opportunities created by the Affordable Care Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, and other recent federal policies.

In a letter to Commissioner Califf, we urge the FDA to prioritize the development of a mandatory front-of-package nutrition labeling system that would help address health inequities facing Latinos and empower consumers to to make better informed dietary choices.
