UnidosUS Welcomes Five Dynamic New Leaders to its Board of Directors

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, UnidosUS (formerly NCLR) announced the appointment of five new members to its Board of Directors. The new Board members include: Mayra Aguirre, Vice President and Secretary, Hall Family Foundation in Kansas City, Mo.; Roy Cosme, President, Arcos Communications in New York City; Fernando S. Godínez, President and CEO, Mexican American Unity Council, Inc. (MAUC) in San Antonio; Luis Granados, Executive Director, Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA) in San Francisco; and Maria Gabriela Pacheco, Program Director, TheDream.US in Washington, DC.

“UnidosUS is fortunate to welcome these five committed leaders whose diverse and extensive experience in the Latino community will help us continue to evolve,” said UnidosUS President and CEO Janet Murguía. “These new members to our board bring a wealth of experience in the areas of immigration, community development, affordable housing, the Latino consumer market and more, and they are all passionate about helping Latinos achieve the American Dream. As our community continues to grow in numbers and influence, UnidosUS will benefit from the insight of our Board members as we create opportunities for Latino families, strengthen communities and contribute to our nation.”

The UnidosUS Board of Directors is a 25-member body composed of elected officials and representatives of community-based organizations, the corporate sector and academia. Board members reflect the diversity of Hispanic nationality groups and the geographic distribution of the U.S. Hispanic population. By mandate, the Board must include equal representation of men and women. The UnidosUS Board Chair is Renata Soto, cofounder and Executive Director of the Nashville-based nonprofit Conexión Américas, a member of the UnidosUS Affiliate Network to which MAUC and MEDA also belong. MAUC’s Godínez also serves as Chair of the UnidosUS Affiliate Council.
