This statement for the record was submitted as a part of the May 8, 2024 hearing by the U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary, titled “Dream Deferred: The Urgent Need to Protect Immigrant Youth.”

The statement reasserts that a pathway to citizenship for all DREAMers and DACA recipients is vital to the country’s economic future. As this statement notes, time is running out to protect these individuals, especially if litigation against the DACA program leads the U.S. Supreme Court to strike it down. In addition to passing relief legislation, we call on Congress to invest in a legal services network that can help these individuals find potential routes to protection and assist with the implementation of legislative relief efforts.
