As the dual language learner (DLL) population continues to increase, teachers face urgent questions about how to effectively interact with and educate these children. These questions have enormous implications not only for the educational achievement of dual language children, but also for the future economic well-being of the United States. This report identifies the competencies that teachers need to work effectively with young dual language learners.
