UnidosUS Strengthens Leadership Team with Strategic Promotion and Senior Advisor Appointment
WASHINGTON, DC — UnidosUS, the nation’s largest Latino civil rights and advocacy organization, announced key leadership updates to advance its mission at a critical time for the Latino community. These leadership roles underscore the organization’s commitment to delivering results for Hispanics through strategic vision, deep policy expertise and a bold approach to institutional engagement.
“This is a defining time for our country, and UnidosUS is meeting today’s challenges with bold leadership, clear strategy and an unwavering commitment to protect, defend and advance Latino communities,” said Sonia M. Pérez, chief operating officer. “We’re proud to elevate leaders from within and welcome nationally respected voices who bring the strategic insight necessary to move us forward.”
The new members of the UnidosUS leadership team include:
Susie Feliz, who joins UnidosUS as senior advisor for legislative affairs and institutional strategy. In this role, Susie will lead the organization’s congressional engagement and drive alignment between policy, programmatic and advocacy work that grows wealth, fosters health and builds power.
A Senate-confirmed former assistant secretary for the Office of Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs at the U.S. Department of Commerce, Susie brings more than two decades of experience across Capitol Hill, the federal government and civil rights advocacy. She previously served as vice president for policy and legislative affairs at the National Urban League, where she championed economic opportunity for underserved communities.
Susie holds a Master of Public Administration from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver.
Luis A. Quiñones has been promoted to vice president of adult education and workforce development. Prior to his promotion, Luis served as deputy vice president of the team, where he leads the development and strategic direction of programs designed to expand opportunity for adult learners and workers in Latino communities — a key element of UnidosUS’s strategy to grow wealth.
During his nearly five-year tenure at UnidosUS, Luis has cultivated strong partnerships with funders, government and the organization’s Affiliates — a network of over 300 Latino-serving, community-based organizations. He led the successful effort to secure an $11.4 million U.S. Department of Labor Good Jobs Challenge grant, the largest federal grant in UnidosUS’s history, which supports workforce development pathways into family-sustaining careers.
Luis holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Puerto Rico and a Master of Arts in counseling psychology from Bowie State University.
These leadership appointments reflect UnidosUS’s enduring commitment to excellence and its vision for a strong America where everyone thrives.
