At a Crucial Time for Latinos, UnidosUS Welcomes New Leaders to Advance Its Mission
WASHINGTON, DC — At a critical time for the Hispanic community in the U.S., UnidosUS, the nation’s largest Latino civil rights and advocacy organization, announced new additions within its Leadership Team. These leaders bring innovative strategies and deep expertise to defend, protect and advance UnidosUS’s mission.

By investing in dynamic new talent and fostering leadership from within, we are ensuring our team is equipped to address the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead,” said Sonia M. Pérez, chief operating officer.
The UnidosUS Leadership Team updates include:
Victoria Rivas-Vazquez joins UnidosUS as vice president of communications and marketing. With a range of experience in journalism, strategic communications and polling, Victoria most recently served as senior director of strategic communications at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC). Previously, she was the Washington bureau chief of the Telemundo Network for five years, where she received several nominations and was awarded an Emmy for the network’s live coverage of Pope Francis’ visit to the U.S. She has also served as a press and strategic communications advisor across the federal government, including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), U.S. Department of State and the White House. Victoria holds degrees from Georgetown University and University of Miami School of Law. In her new role, she will lead the organization’s communications and marketing efforts uplifting the Hispanic community’s contributions, power and potential while elevating the priorities and remedies our issue experts develop to expand opportunities for all.
Alexandra Ruiz joins UnidosUS as deputy vice president, learning and impact, bringing over 15 years of experience leading transformative, data-driven initiatives across government, nonprofit and tech sectors. Most recently, she served as executive director of programs at the New York City Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs, where she spearheaded initiatives supporting over 200,000 immigrants in New York. Alexandra holds an MBA from Brown University and a Master’s in American History from Queens College, City University of New York. In her new role, Alexandra will design and implement a comprehensive learning and impact measurement strategy that integrates UnidosUS’s core areas of focus — education, housing & financial empowerment, health and workforce development.
