UnidosUS’s Campaign for Equal Opportunity Raises Over $25 Million in Funding

UnidosUS Recognizes the Campaign’s Leading Supporters for their Vision and Commitment to the Latino Community

WASHINGTON, DC—UnidosUS, the nation’s largest Latino civil rights and advocacy organization, formerly the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), is well over halfway through its goal of raising $50 million for its Campaign for Equal Opportunity—a bold initiative that will make America stronger by ensuring that economic, political, and social advancement is a reality for all, including Latinos.

The fundraising initiative, which was launched last July as part of UnidosUS’s 50th anniversary, seeks to advance the fight for equity by accelerating the organization’s mission and strengthening its position to lead the response to our nation’s most critical needs. The campaign will prioritize three areas: defining the narrative of the Latino community to demonstrate its place as a critical contributor to America’s strength; expanding programs and practices that demonstrate the most promise for lasting and systemic change; and elevating Latino leadership and perspectives across all sectors of society.

Yesterday, UnidosUS recognized its anchor donors, companies, and foundations that have supported the campaign with gifts of $1 million or above, during a dinner at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia. These donors include Comcast NBCUniversal Telemundo, Ford Foundation, Bank of America, W.K. Kellogg Foundation, Prudential Financial, Walmart, State Farm Insurance Companies, United Parcel Service, Inc. (UPS), Raza Development Fund, and the UnidosUS Board of Directors.

Talent doesn’t discriminate, these children are the minds that will design the solutions of tomorrow. The campaign donors need to be recognized not only for their generosity, but for their vision. Their investment in the Latino community will indeed create a better America for everyone,” said UnidosUS President and CEO Janet Murguía.

During the National Constitution Center dinner in Philadelphia, UnidosUS also recognized several individual donors who have contributed $100,000+ to the campaign, including: David and Rhonda Cohen, John and Minerva Esquivel, the Murguía family, Monica Lozano, and Donald Graham.

In its 50 years of service, UnidosUS has been a champion of the Latino community in the areas of health care, education, economic security, housing, civil rights, and immigration. The Campaign for Equal Opportunity, which is co-chaired by Fred R. Fernandez and José H. Villarreal, will allow UnidosUS to build on its record of achievement and pursue impactful investments and ideas for the future of the Latino community.
