UnidosUS Strengthens Senior Leadership to Achieve Greater Impact
Peggy McLeod, Irene Cuyún, and Darcy Eischens assume crucial roles, as the largest national Hispanic civil-rights organization looks to expand its reach
WASHINGTON, DC-Today, UnidosUS (formerly NCLR) announced the promotion of three members to its leadership team. Peggy McLeod, EdD, becomes Vice President of Education, Workforce Development and Evaluation; Irene Cuyún becomes Deputy Vice President of Programs and Development; and Darcy Eischens assumes the role of Deputy Vice President of Policy and Development.
For the past five years, McLeod has overseen and streamlined UnidosUS education and workforce development programming. Her keen focus on data collection and program expansion has bolstered these priority areas. In collaboration with the organization’s policy team, she has worked diligently to ensure that UnidosUS’s state-level education work is influenced by the experiences of educators, parents, and students. McLeod has also guided key efforts to expand funding for early childhood education and workforce development to benefit Latino communities around the United States.
Cuyún and Eischens have provided crucial guidance and support to the policy and programs teams for over two decades each, as well as to the organization as whole. They are widely recognized as major drivers of the development and implementation of the organization’s strategy planning efforts, as well as for securing resources that fuel the organization’s program and policy work.
In their new roles as part of the Organizational Alignment and Development team, Cuyún and Eischens will combine their program management and policy expertise with their planning skills and funder knowledge to expand the reach and impact of UnidosUS initiatives. Together they will better position the organization for greater impact and future growth. In addition, they will enhance the continued integration of UnidosUS Affiliate partners in work across the organization.
“The organization is fortunate to have passionate and dedicated leaders, like Peggy, Irene, and Darcy working to advance our mission to promote Latino perspectives on important issues and increase opportunities for all Latinos in the country,” said UnidosUS President and CEO Janet Murguía. “These promotions allow us to leverage their great experience and harness their incredible talent and deep understanding of policy and program efforts, philanthropy, and the importance of strategy, so we can better meet the needs of the community we so humbly serve and confront the challenges ahead of us,” she concluded.
