Anita Gupta

Senior Advisor for Immigration Programs

Anita Gupta is Senior Advisor for Immigration Programs at UnidosUS. In this role, she supports the UnidosUS Affiliate network in building capacity to respond to immigration enforcement and strengthen legal services. Anita brings more than a decade of experience in immigration law and has dedicated her career to advancing immigrant rights. Prior to joining UnidosUS, she was the Managing Attorney of Legal Programs and Initiatives at the Presidents’ Alliance on Higher Education and Immigration, where she led the Legal Pathways that Work initiative and developed resources for colleges and universities.

Previously, Anita led the Immigrant Legal Resource Center’s removal defense and Texas teams, focusing on capacity-building initiatives for legal service providers and community advocates nationwide, as well as local policy advocacy to reduce the arrest-to-deportation pipeline in Texas. She has also served as an adjunct professor with Villanova University’s Immigration Studies program. Earlier in her career, Anita represented clients in a wide range of immigration matters, including removal defense, humanitarian relief and family-based petitions.

Anita holds a Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She lives in Austin, Texas.
