The Biden administration’s decision to fast-track some deportations and increase asylum case processing times has caused concern for advocates about rushing cases and undermining due process.

An order from a Texas judge means that 300,000 youth who would otherwise be eligible for DACA are unable to sign up for the program. At the time of the order, there were at least 81,000 pending applications.

While Luis Grijalva qualified for the Olympics, it was an open question until earlier this week if he’d be able to compete because of the need to travel abroad with his DACA status. Additionally, even though Grijalva moved to the United States when he was a year old, he was unable to represent the country, and instead was chosen for Guatemala’s delegation.
