Hispanic Electorate: First 100 Days bipartisan poll
In April, UnidosUS, along with partners Voces Unidas, LULAC and Climate Power en Acción released findings from the largest, national bipartisan poll of U.S. Latino voters. The survey, “First 100 Days Bipartisan Poll of the Hispanic Electorate,” found that pocketbook issues continue to dominate the concerns of Latinos — cost of living/inflation, jobs, housing and health care affordability — with immigration rounding out voters’ top five priorities.
On the economy, 54% of respondents said it is worse now, as compared to last year; 60% believe the country is headed in the wrong direction; and 70% hold President Trump and his administration responsible. “Economic discontent was the most potent driver in the 2024 election, helping President Trump increase support among Latinos. But over half of Hispanic voters feel the economy is worse now than a year ago and nearly as many believe it will be worse a year from now,” said Janet Murguía, President and CEO of UnidosUS.
In terms of the political environment and immigration policies, 66% of Hispanic voters believe the rule of law is failing and the constitution is being violated. Relatedly, 43% believe many people fear immigration authorities will arrest them even if they are U.S. citizens or have legal status, and 60% disapprove of the administration’s deportation of undocumented immigrants without court hearings.
“Latino voters are alarmed and angered by what they’re seeing play out on the threats to our democracy,” Murguía added.
Your vital support helps make it possible to produce and elevate meaningful research and data collection, like the First 100 Days poll. Because of you, we can engage in nonpartisan partnerships like these to ensure an accurate, evidence-based understanding of Hispanic voters. This allows for deeper community engagement, along with policy and program responses that advance opportunity for all. Thank you!
