The 2015 NCLR Annual Conference Starts With the Community

The 2015 NCLR Annual Conference in Kansas City today was kicked off with two special events. The first was a naturalization ceremony in which the United States welcomed 89 new citizens from 33 countries. U.S. District Court Judge Carlos Murguía of Kansas City, Kan. presided over the event. Our President and CEO (and Judge Murguía’s sister), Janet Murguía, congratulated the new citizens on this important firs step in the pursuit of the American dream.

In the Argentine community of Kansas City, Kan., our Affiliate El Centro Inc. was the site of a community service project aimed to spruce up the school and beautify the grounds. The project was supported by Bank of America and Habitat for Humanity Kansas City.

Both events helped set the tone for our annual gathering, the largest conference of Latinos in the country. See highlights from both events below.
