Immigration reform must be included in the Budget Reconciliation
On Wednesday, October 20, UnidosUS President and CEO Janet Murguía joined Representatives Adriano Espaillat (NY-13), Jesús “Chuy” García (IL-04), Lou Correa (CA-46) and Veronica Escobar (TX-16), along with the Hispanic Federation, LULAC, Voto Latino, Mi Familia Vota, The Immigration Hub, and National Hispanic Leadership Agenda to advocate for Latinos at the United States Capitol to demand lasting protections for undocumented communities.
For months, UnidosUS has been clear that protecting undocumented essential workers–including the many DREAMers, TPS holders, and farmworkers among them–is needed to propel the country forward from this historic health and economic crisis.
In short, Latinos and immigrants have kept the country running regardless of their immigration status. Now, they must be part of our economic recovery too.
Legal protections, and the stability they provide to undocumented workers and families, must be included in the Build Back Better Act. The moment is now for Congress to finally act and deliver protections for millions of hard-working people. It’s a win for workers, for families, and for the United States as a whole.
