Rep. Gutiérrez Introduces Bill on Immigrants Health

Congressman Luis V. Gutiérrez (D-Ill) took to the floor of the House this week to introduce the Exchange Inclusion for a Healthy America Act, a bill that would lift the restriction that requires individuals to be “lawfully present” in order to buy health coverage through the insurance exchanges created by the Affordable Care Act.

“As it stands right now, undocumented immigrants are not subject to the individual mandate and cannot buy into health insurance exchanges even if they use their own money.  My legislation will change that.  It says that we stand for inclusion,” said Gutierrez during his floor speech.
