We start this week in California, which was the focus for much of the activity this week. Perhaps the biggest event of the week was the Caravan4Citizenship that began in Bakersfield, outside the office of House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and culminated in an event happening tonight in Sacramento. Our Affiliate, El Concilio and dozens of community and student groups joined the two-day march.

Elsewhere in California, our Affiliate, TODEC, hosted a phone banking event in which more than 20 volunteers joined in to make more than 100 calls to voters asking them to call their representatives to ask for their support of immigration reform.

Finally, our Affiliate, El Concilio, which participated in the Bakersfield event, joined PICO CA, People and Congregations Together (PACT), and many San Joaquin, Calif. churches to hear from advocates about why Congress needs to vote on immigration reform now.

Others included Fidel Acevedo (LULAC) , Alejandro Caceres (Austin Immigrants Rights Coalition), and Dr. Randy Baca (Temple College).
