Janet Murguía visits Los Angeles

In July UnidosUS President and CEO Janet Murguía traveled to Los Angeles to meet with elected officials, Affiliate leaders and community partners and learn more about the impact of the devastating and abusive enforcement actions taken by the Trump administration.

While on the ground, she emphasized UnidosUS’s commitment to amplify what is happening and engage our sister civil rights organizations to defend Latinos against increasing attacks, educate philanthropy and business leaders, and elevate the economic impacts of the administration’s abuse of power.

This government overreach has real consequences. Collective strength is how we protect one another and drive change. Watch the video series from Los Angeles below.

JM-Salas

Angelica Salas, executive director of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA), speaks with UnidosUS President and CEO Janet Murguía about the immigration raids in Los Angeles and how these warrantless attacks directly target Hispanic communities, along with Latino leadership, business owners and U.S. citizens who are “picked up first and questioned later.”

In response to these disappearances, CHIRLA has filed a lawsuit calling out the bigoted profiling at the heart of this federal overreach.
