Fighting fear with facts: A public charge update

This week’s Policy Outlook focuses on public charge.

On October 15, the public charge rule was going to take effect. However, the rule was blocked in federal court and it is now stopped for the foreseeable future while this lawsuit is decided. Unfortunately, the Trump administration still wants to ensure this rule takes effect, and that’s why our fight continues.

In this week’s Policy Outlook video, Carlos Guevara, Senior Policy Advisor at UnidosUS, explains what public charge is and the danger of what the Trump administration is trying to achieve by expanding new criteria.

UnidosUS, together with our partners and people like you, invested in protecting our families and American children, have spoken against this rule, and we are bringing the facts to fight the fear. We have partnered with the National Immigration Law Center and the campaign Protecting Immigrant Families to maintain our community informed with the latest updates on this ruling.

You can also visit our partner Boundless’s page to check the impact of the rule on your green card application. Visit the site here, and stay tuned for more Policy Outlook updates every Tuesday while Congress is in session.
