Fact Sheet: "Additional Work Requirements in SNAP Would Hurt Latino Families"

As Congress moves toward consideration of raising the debt ceiling and the Farm Bill, House Republicans have revived calls for work requirements for families receiving SNAP.

Using the threat of reaching the debt ceiling as leverage, House Republicans hope to vote this week on a debt ceiling bill that will slash SNAP spending by expanding already harsh work requirements to parents of children ages 7 and up and to older Americans ages 50 to 64. About 4 million school-age children and 2 million older Americans live in households that face these cuts. Read the full Fact Sheet to learn more about how additional work requirements will harm Latino families.
