We debut our policy agenda for the 116th Congress at the 2019 Changemakers Summit
UnidosUS program alumna and mayor of El Mirage, Arizona Alexis Hermosillo gives stirring keynote address and panel outlines our priorities at release of our 2019 Latino policy agenda.
Today, during the Plenary Luncheon at the 2019 UnidosUS Changemakers Summit, UnidosUS released Stronger Communities, Stronger America: A Latino Policy Agenda for the 116th Congress. The agenda covers the policies that should be the priority of federal lawmakers across civil rights, criminal justice, economic security, education, health and well-being, and immigration issues.
The 2018 midterm election was historic. Latinos turned out in record numbers and helped vote in a diverse Congress that is more representative of America’s diversity. And with the 2020 presidential election on the horizon, now more than ever, it’s important that policymakers work to address the unique needs of our community.

Yet, harmful policies and regulations issued under the Trump administration threaten to reverse this progress and widen inequities. Our policy agenda is being released at a key moment in time.
