Deadline for February Health Coverage Just One Week Away!

HealthCare_basicright-(1)_newishIf you are interested in getting health insurance under the Affordable Care Act (ACA) but missed the December 15 deadline, there is still time to enroll in a health plan for this year. We urge you to act quickly—the next open enrollment deadline is just around the corner!

Mark your calendar for January 15, which is the last day to sign up for coverage that starts on February 1.

Here are three tips to make it easier to get affordable coverage that fits your needs:

  1. Educate yourself about health insurance. Understanding health insurance can be tricky, even if you have previously had coverage. It’s important to learn about the different aspects of health insurance so you can choose the plan that best fits the needs of you and your family. Check out this Health Insurance Basics guide and a glossary of common health insurance terms. It’s available in Spanish
  2. Gather key documents and information before you apply. Having all the necessary information in one place will make the application process go more smoothly. See this Marketplace Application Checklist for a list of the information needed to apply and guidance on how to gather it all together. NCLR has information in Spanish that can help you prepare.
  3. Seek out help in applying for coverage. Free assistance to help you enroll in marketplace coverage is available by phone or in person. Phone agents are available to assist you until the open enrollment period closes on February 15, 2015.
