Latino Uninsurance at the National and State Levels
Making up nearly one-third of all uninsured Americans, Latinos have among the most to gain from effective implementation of the health care law. Currently, one of every three Hispanics is uninsured, representing nearly 16 million people, but many are expected to gain coverage due to new health insurance pathways created by reform. As the nation awaits the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on the fate of the Affordable Care Act, it is useful to understand how and where Latinos stand to lose if the coverage expansions were to disappear.
