On June 27, 2013, after months of hearings, hundreds of amendments, 37 hours of committee debate, and nine days on the floor, Republicans and Democrats in the Senate, in a rare show of bipartisan cooperation, passed comprehensive immigration reform legislation. Finally, the majority of Americans thought, Congress is working together to fix a problem facing our country. But the legislation then headed to the House of Representatives and was blocked by House leadership, who had no plan of their own to offer.
