On May 13, UnidosUS CEO and President, Janet Murguía, hosted the conversation, “Paid Sick and Family Leave: Giving Latinos Their Fair Shot at Healthy Lives and Economic Security.” This conversation highlighted the importance of having national paid sick and family leave, its need within the Latino community, and the urgency for Congress to act – especially as it considers President Biden’s American Jobs and Families Plans. Special thanks to Representative Stephanie Murphy (D-FL) for joining us on this very important topic.

More than half of all Latino workers—15 million people—do not have access to paid leave, even as they have been disproportionately harmed by the COVID-19 pandemic. This has led to countless workers having to choose between their health and the care of a loved one, or their economic security. The conversation explored the importance of ensuring that Congress delivers national paid sick and family leave and ensuring that all American families and workers are provided the relief that they desperately need.
