Message from the President and CEO

Gratitude and Wishes for Peace & Joy

As the year draws to a close, I hope you and yours are well and enjoying the spirit of the season! Looking back on 2022, I am filled with gratitude.

Gratitude for the opportunity to reconnect in person and to see many of our supporters, like you, at one of our annual events. Gratitude for new opportunities to support our community, such as UnidosUS’s participation in the White House Conference on Hunger, Nutrition and Health, which you will read more about in this issue. Gratitude for the vision and generosity of our donors who helped us launch the Raul Yzaguirre Legacy Fund to make certain we tell the true story of our movement in our own words. Together, we will ensure Raul’s and UnidosUS’s impact on the Latino community will endure for generations to come and never be forgotten.

After 17 years as head of UnidosUS, I’m also grateful for the opportunity to be on sabbatical and cherish the chance to rest, reflect and restore during my time away. This gratitude extends to the Board of Directors and to the strong, dedicated commitment of the incredible team we have at UnidosUS, who are stepping up into higher-level roles and bringing new perspectives to the execution of our strategy.  My colleague, Sonia M. Pérez, a seasoned leader who has been with UnidosUS for more than 30 years, is serving as Acting CEO until I return on February 1, 2023.

¡Gracias!
