UnidosUS ALMA Awards

1995–2024 History and Past Awardees

Since the inception of THE ALMA AWARDS®, some of the most legendary figures in entertainment have graced the ALMA stage, from Jennifer Lopez and Jimmy Smits, to Eva Longoria and Mario Lopez. The participation of popular artists from diverse walks of life has contributed to the success and appeal of this unique awards show.

Now the ALMAs are set to return in 2025, reimagined to celebrate the creative might of our entertainment and media industry and to showcase the people on the ground who are shaping a new and powerful Latino narrative.

THE ALMA AWARDS® is a registered trademark of UnidosUS.

THE ALMA AWARDS®

The UnidosUS ALMA Awards, which began as the Bravo Awards, was born in reaction to research conducted by NCLR and the Center for Media and Public Affairs that determined the lack of quantity and quality of representation that Hispanic Americans receive in the mass media. It was evident then, as it is continues to be today, that Latinos simply are not getting the roles and opportunities that accurately represent our community and our culture.

Beyond researching and reporting on these issues, UnidosUS met with television network executives, urging them to provide a platform recognizing the contributions of Latinos in film, television, and music.
