Countdown to the 2020 Election

Event: The State of the Latino Vote and UnidosUS 2020 Campaign

November 5, 2019

WASHINGTON, DC—The Latino community is set to become the largest voting minority block in 2020, becoming an increasingly important demographic for the outcome of the election. UnidosUS (formerly National Council of La Raza)—the nation’s largest Latino civil rights and advocacy organization—has a track record in having registered more than 700,000 new Latino voters in the last decade. For 2020, UnidosUS plans to announce increased efforts to empower the Latino community and make its voice be heard at the polls.

On Thursday, November 14, UnidosUS will be releasing a brief on the state of the Latino vote, which examines where Latinos can impact elections, analyzes how campaigns are engaging this community, and presents new data about the Latino voter. UnidosUS will also be announcing a year-long campaign, which aims to mobilize Latinos to be civically engaged from now until the 2020 elections through voter education, voter registration, participation in the Census, and naturalization efforts across the United States, with a particular focus in California, Texas, Arizona, Florida, and Nevada.

Interested media should RSVP to Gabriela Gomez at or (202) 776-1732.
